Священник из Мичигана Стив Бентли открыл в своей церкви тату-салон, пишет местное издание The Flint Journal.
Таким оригинальным способом он надеется привлечь в церковь тех людей, которые чувствуют себя неловко в традиционной церковной обстановке.
По мнению священника, татуировки безобидны с точки зрения морали. «Татуировка — полноценный вид искусства в современной культуре. Мне не кажется правильным непременно связывать татуировки с употреблением наркотиков и порнографией», — считает он. У самого Бентли две татуировки, одну из которых он сделал в церковном салоне.
По словам Бентли, его церковь не совсем традиционна, но она стремится занять какое-то место в жизни людей и как-то их изменить. Как сообщает Associated Press, количество постоянных прихожан церкви насчитывает примерно около тысячи человек, а службы каждые выходные посещают до 500 человек.
Как следует из слов Бентли, тату-салон привлекает людей, однако не все они, посетив его, заходят в церковь. Помимо тату-салона, священник также использует здание церкви другими нестандартными способами — к примеру, он разрешает проводить в ней бои без правил и использовать церковь как автомастерскую.
«Зачем нужно здание на миллион долларов, если его используют всего пару раз в неделю? Это пустая трата времени, отведенного нам богом. Мы стараемся приносить пользу обществу», — заявил Бентли.
